EDMs
Electrical Discharge Machining is a manufacturing process that includes an electrode and a work piece, both being submerged in dielectric fluid. The current flows between the work piece and the electrode and material is removed by a series of recurring current discharges. The process can be slow in terms of metal removal but an EDM is capable of machining metal that would be difficult to machine with traditional techniques and is also used for machining hard metals. The EDM process is widely used in the mold-making and tool and die industries.
